Short answer: not always – a police report is only required in certain situations.
CarInsuRent requires a police report in the following events:
- If you got in an accident with a third party (i.e. another vehicle or party involved).
- If a police report is legally mandated in the country where the incident occurred.
- If your claim involves the theft of personal belongings (covered under our baggage/personal‑belongings section).
