Customers Reviews

Outstanding coverage for international auto rental insurance. less expensive than the insurance add-ons supplied by the rental car company each time you pick up your vehicle. The ability to turn down the expensive coverage offered at the rental desks is pleasant. I am delighted to suggest CarInsuRent to others, and I will be renewing annually without hesitation.
I also had a little accident, and the claim was handled properly, promptly, and without any fuss. The full claim amount was repaid to my account.

This was my first time filing a claim as an annual account holder, and I was rather impressed.
A rental business attempted to charge me for a minor, dubious dent, so I filed a claim. The group resolved the conflict quickly and expertly. They swiftly transferred the money after securing the entire claim amount.

Suffered fender damage when traveling abroad.
A variety of documents must be uploaded as part of the claims process; many of these are readily available, but some necessitate a follow-up request to the rental car provider (a lengthy procedure).
In the end, a complete settlement was reached.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Are there specialist insurers that cover misfuelling in rental vehicles?

Yes - CarInsuRent's rental car excess insurance policy covers misfueling (i.e. putting the wrong fuel in a rental vehicle). Our policy covers tank emptying costs and vehicle towing when the wrong fuel is refueled into the vehicle by mistake. The policy also covers accommodation if the car is unusable.

Does the Insurance Cover Lost Keys and Remote Locking Devices?

Yes. CarInsuRent insurance covers lost keys and remote locking devices.Losing the keys to a rental car can be a stressful and frustrating experience. Many people wonder if their rental car insurance will provide coverage for lost keys. Rental car insurance policies may vary in their coverage for lost keys. Lost keys are not typically covered by car insurance for loss or theft, as keys are considered personal property.

Steps to Take If You Lose Rental Car Keys

Losing rental car keys can be a frustrating and stressful experience, but there are steps you can take to get back on the road quickly. Here are some tips based on the provided web search results:
  1. Contact roadside assistance: Most rental cars come with a roadside assistance phone number that you can call in the event of a lockout or lost keys. You should be able to call and have someone sent out to help with your situation. Note that our car hire excess waiver insurance may reimburse you for roadside assistance.
  2. Check for a spare key: Some rental cars come with a spare key that is located in a magnetic box under the car or in the trunk. If you have rented a car that has a spare key, this could be an option to get back on the road quickly.
  3. Contact the rental car company: Contact the rental car company as soon as possible to let them know what has happened. They may be able to provide you with a replacement key or arrange for a locksmith to come and assist you.
  4. Check your insurance policy: If you take out our car hire excess insurance you may have coverage for lost or stolen rental car keys.
  5. Take preventative measures: One of the best ways to avoid losing rental car keys is to make them harder to lose. Attach a big, noticeable lanyard or keychain to the keys, something that will make a noise when moved, to help you locate them quickly. Additionally, always double-check that you have the keys with you before leaving the car.

How can non‑EU or non‑UK residents get affordable car rental excess insurance?

If you are a non‑EU / non‑UK resident and you want to get affordable rental car “excess” (deductible) insurance when hiring a car abroad, CarInsuRent offers excess waiver policies for rentals in many countries worldwide, often cheaper than adding cover at the rental desk. We offer daily and multi‑trip excess protection policies covering damage, theft, tyres, glass, towing, etc.

How does CarInsuRent’s product work?

Our CDW Insurance is a reimbursement that covers your excess obligation when renting a vehicle. If the car gets damaged while in your custody, the rental firm will compute the cost of repair needed and bill you through your credit card (up to your excess). After filing a claim with CarInsuRent, we will reimburse you the assessed amount. You can read the complete terms and conditions in the Product Disclosure Statement (PDS).

Does CarInsuRent cover personal belongings stolen from a rental car?

Short answer: yes. CarInsuRent does include coverage for personal belongings / baggage stolen from a rental car - but only under certain conditions. Our policy includes a “personal belongings” (or “baggage and personal belongings or valuables”) section - meaning that if your luggage, valuables or personal items are stolen (or permanently lost or unintentionally damaged) during your rental period, you may be eligible for reimbursement. The maximum payout for personal belongings is limited: in their standard plan, this coverage is up to US $500. If you want to rely on CarInsuRent for stolen belongings inside a rental car, you should keep receipts or proof of purchase for valuables. Take photos before leaving the car (if possible). Lock the car properly, avoid leaving valuables visible/unattended, and store items out of sight (e.g. in the trunk). Immediately report theft to local police, and obtain a police report - that’s often a requirement before we will consider a claim.

Does CarInsuRent cover single-vehicle accidents and scratches to a rental car?

In short: Yes. Our policy states that we cover single-vehicle accidents. It also covers damage to “bodywork” of the rental vehicle; that includes external surfaces - which means dents, scratches, bumper damage, etc. CarInsuRent is a “hire excess insurance” - it doesn't replace the rental company’s own insurance. Instead, it reimburses you for the excess/deductible you must pay if there’s damage.

Does CarInsuRent cover vandalism or hit-and-run damage to a rental car?

Yes - in many cases CarInsuRent does cover vandalism and, depending on the circumstances, damage from a hit-and-run to a rental car. We cover damage to bodywork, windows/glass, tyres, wheels, underbody, roof, etc. If the rental company charges you for repairs after a hit-and-run (or similar incident that results in damage while the car is parked or left unattended), CarInsuRent’s policy will reimburse you - as long as you meet their claim requirements (report the damage, provide documentation, pay the excess, etc.).What “hit-and-run” means in this context? A hit-and-run claim - for example, someone damaging the rental car while parked and fleeing - typically involves vandalism or collision damage.
